About Casey

Apart from his journalism and photography work, Casey is the lead on a mapping app for Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada called SikSik (now available for iOS and Android).

Casey’s images are whimsical and are a great example of good photojournalism.

Casey's portraiture and candid photojournalism have earned acclaim locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.

Since August 2011, he has worked and traveled across the North: to Yellowknife, NWT; with Santa to almost every Nunavut community as far north as Resolute and down to Churchill, Manitoba; to Whitehorse, Yukon, for the 2012 Arctic Winter Games; and to Fairbanks, Alaska, for the 2014 Arctic Winter Games. In June 2014, he accomplished a life goal of visiting Grise Fiord, Canada's furthest north community.

Until 2010, Casey was the publisher of one of Ontario’s best small newspapers, the Grand Bend Strip.

Casey was named the Ontario Community Newspaper Association’s second best photographer in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Casey is the two-time recipient of the Canadian Community Newspapers Association's Outstanding Reporter Initiative award, the top national award for community newspaper reporting, in 2008 and 2015.
